(this should be Bombus griseocollis)
Really? Brown-belted? I should send all my bombus pix to you. I have i.d’d B. griseocollis in Toronto, but this is my cottage, and I’ve never seen it there – or maybe I have. What diagnostic feature can you see in this photo that I’m missing?
I see the brown belt clearly on this i.d. below. But I cannot see it on my bee. Is there another trait? Pile? Shape?
Thank you! I have gone back to that day and found some posterior shots and see the brown belt. But I would be really interested in knowing the feature from the side that enables that i.d. I have so many that I thought were just B. impatiens. I suppose I should carefully check for B. bimaculatus as well. 🙂
